Over 40,000 YouTube Views

I’m not sure how this happened, but my YouTube channel has passed 40,000 views. Combined with a motorcycle video on my old account, that brings the total to nearly 54,000.

For all the times I try to make something happen, the spontaneous successes are always the most interesting.

So it’s high time I revive the channel.

What would you like to see?

Ask For Help!

Whether you see it as the golden rule, or being the change you wish to see in the world, sometimes you have to do the thing you’d most like to see others doing.

If you wish more people would ask your advice and seek your help, maybe it’s time to give that gift to others and ask for their help instead.

Getting Things Done: One Habit To Rule Them All

It’s easy to become discouraged when thinking about all the new habits you’d like to form. Knowing that it can take many weeks to solidify even a single new habit, you quickly realize how long it will take to form several at once.

I’ve found that a great alternative is to focus on forming, mastering, and maintaining just one habit. By finding your own way to implement the Getting Things Done methods, you can, by default, accomplish all of the rest without having to focus on forming many habits at once.

UPDATE: It’s even crazier than I thought. The last time I looked at the book Getting Things Done on Amazon, it was selling for about nine dollars. Right now it’s only $6.49! If you don’t own this book, it’s crazy not to buy a copy at that price!

The True Motown Sound And Its Unknown History

While you’ve probably heard many of the classic Motown hits, you probably didn’t know that for many years, the band members playing on every single hit were from the same core group of musicians known as The Funk Brothers.

There is a great documentary called Standing In The Shadows Of Motown that tells their story, gives much deserved recognition, and includes many clips from a reunion concert featuring a number of modern guest artists.

It is a really great watch, and is a steal at $9 on Amazon or unbelievably, you can rent it on iTunes for just 99 cents. If you enjoy classic Motown and want to hear some of the greatest musicians in modern popular music tell their story and play again, don’t miss it.

How To Learn Anything (And Remember It)

Modern flashcard software is really an amazing thing. You can input any topic you want to learn and remember, and it will automatically show you only the cards you need to review, in order to best remember them.

It’s way more efficient than a stack of flashcards. Instead of going through the whole stack every time, it shows you the things you need the most help with more often, and the things you know well only occasionally.

Today I talk a bit about why flashcard software is the best way to learn any new subject that involves remembering a lot of information. I also mention a bit about Anki, some promising flashcard software that I’m just starting to test.
